Have you ever felt as if your parents are over-controlling you?Or have you been the one over-controlling someone?Well,do parents over-control their children nowadays? This is a topic that will always be open for discussions. Firstly, what is the defination of 'over-controlling'?I personally feel that an over-controlling parent is one that would restrain his child from doing things that children of her age normally do.For example,i would think that if a parent does not allow to his daughter to go out with her friends just because she has not finished the assignments he set for her,he is being too over-controlling.Some parents think that by prevent their children from gaining access to the outside world, they are 'protecting' them.In fact,i feel that the only way to learn is by gaining personal experiences from the outside world and parents who prevent their children from gaining access to the world are actually causing more harm to their children as when they grow up,they won't know how the real world is and would have a wrong impression that everything is smooth-sailing out in the modern society. However, the true meaning of 'over-controlling' is vague as what teenagers feel as 'over-control' might differ from what adults define it as. Secondly, are there reasons for parents to over-control their child?Or are parents just over-protective?In this ever changing society where communications around the globe has gotten easier, wrong information can travel from one end of the world to the other in just a few days.Furthermore, many teenagers are easily influenced by their surroundings.Problems such as computer games addiction and early boy-girl relatioships might be one of the few problems that cause worries to parents, leading to them over-controlling their children. We can't really blame parents for over-controlling their children if it is just an act of concern. Therefore,we can't be sure that when a parent over-controls his child, the parent is always in the wrong as there might be reasons for their behaviour. Finally,i would like conclude that we can't give a direct answer to the question of whether or not parents over-control their chilren nowadays as everyone has different definations on what 'over-controlling' means. To add on,for every action that is done, there will always be a cause for it and we cannot judge people without knowing the real cause for his or her actions.
