1.The idea of 'Harry Potter' was conceived whilst on a train trip from Manchester to London in 1990.
2.The 2008 Sunday Times Rich List estimated Rowling's fortune at £560 million ($1.1 billion),
ranking her as the 12th richest woman in Britain.
3.Forbes ranked Rowling as the 48th most powerful celebrity of 2007.
4.Time Magazine named her as a runner-up for its 2007 Person of the Year.
5.Before publishing her first book, her publisher feared that the target audience of young boys
might be reluctant to buy books written by a female author. It requested that Rowling use two
initials, rather than reveal her first name.she had no middle name,so she chose K. for
Kathleen.However,the name Kathleen has never been part of her real name.
the reason why she is my favourite author is that...
Since I am not a person who fancies reading story books much,I feel that she is a very powerful author as she made me 'addicted' to reading the Harry Potter series.The series is probably one of the few or even the only series that I managed to complete reading.Furthermore,she writes in the genre of fantasy,which I personally feel is extremely difficult as a lot of imagination is needed.After the series was published,her life changed from 'rags to riches'.It is just one of the few evidences showing how talented Rowling is.Another evidence would be that the series has been made into movies.In order for companies to invest in producing a movie with a storyline from a book,I am quite sure that the storyline has to be superb.
Afterall,if she isn't a good writer,I really don't think that she could be the 12th richest woman in Britain when she started off being a nobody.

Any ideas why other fantasy authors are not as famous as her?Personally i actually like some other fantasy authors then her :) probably hers is more modern..and people like modern stuff
